SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT: 

WHY DO WE HAVE AN ARMY? – FROM DAILYWIRE:   The United States Army is reportedly considering doing away with its new “gender-neutral physical test” after test results showed that the majority of women failed while approximately 90 percent of men passed. Officials are reportedly considering having different evaluation categories for men and women due to the physiological differences between the two.  “Research showed that the Army Combat Fitness Test [ACFT], which is the same for male and female soldiers, was leading to lower results for women with a knock-on effect for promotions,” The Telegraph reported. “An early Pentagon study showed that women were failing the ACFT at a rate of 65 per cent, while only 10 percent of men did.”  A report from last fall found that 54 percent of women failed the test while only 7 percent of men failed it.  The report said that Congress, which is controlled by the Democrats, stopped the new program from being implemented and the Army is reviewing whether it is fair. Congress does not want the test as it is current constructed to factor into opportunities for advancement, the report said.  It is no disrespect to our brave female soldiers to say that changing the physical rules will put women at extreme risk.  War is not a social experiment.  It is brutal, and brute physical strength is sometimes called for.  The Democrats don't care about military women.  They care only about the feminist ideology. 

AN EDUCATIONAL DILEMMA – FROM FOX:  Multiple California school districts are using state and federal COVID relief money to hand out bonuses for teachers and staff, with one district even suggesting the money be used for a trip to Hawaii.  The internal memos have been shared online by "Reopen California Schools," a Facebook group started early on in the pandemic by Jonathan Zachreson.  Clovis Unified School District, located in Fresno County, reportedly discussed using federal and state relief funds to give employees a "one-time payment to employees … given the extraordinary effort required of every employee over the course of the pandemic."  Zachreson told Fox News that a person involved in the negotiations told him that the district has discussed employee bonuses as high as $6,000 per employee – rather than on students.  Dublin Unified School District, located in the Bay Area, has proposed paying its teachers a one-time $2,500 bonus with state and federal aid to be used for, among other things, "an airplane trip to Hawaii" when the pandemic is over, according to an internal memo obtained by Reopen California Schools.    What a disgrace to the teaching profession, if it's still a profession.  The children come last.

AMERICANS ARE REMINDED THAT NANCY PELOSI IS NUTS – OVERNIGHT:  The speaker has never been accused of being a stateswoman.  But her extreme partisanship and absurdity have crossed a line.  From Fox: 

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pointed fingers at former President Donald Trump, insinuating that he’s to blame for the crisis at the border during an appearance on ABC News’s "This Week" Sunday.

"This is a humanitarian challenge to all of us," she said. "What the administration has inherited is a broken system at the border and they are working to correct that."

Biden's latest correction, announced Saturday by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, includes a government-wide effort to house migrant children with support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as numbers continue to rise.

The speaker confirmed there are nearly 600 to 700 more migrant children currently approaching the southern border which triggered the president's directive to send FEMA to facilitate the transfer of kids from border care facilities and into safe homes.

"This, again, is a transition from what was wrong before to what is right," she explained.

Pelosi said the Biden administration is attempting to uphold the standards of the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program by putting in place a system that accommodates and respects it while ridding the nation of what the administration considers Trump’s "cruel" approach.

Under Biden’s open-border policies and promises to provide asylum for those seeking it, the U.S. has witnessed a massive influx of migrants at the border, causing an overflow in detention facilities. According to Daily Mail, facilities are over capacity by almost 700%.

Yet the administration and Democrats like Pelosi would rather refer to the overwhelming numbers as a "challenge" instead of a crisis.

In recent weeks, the number of unaccompanied children and family units in custody has tripled and there were more than 100,000 migrant encounters in February alone. The drastic jump directly followed Biden’s inauguration and his first executive order halting southern border wall construction.

Just last week, former President Donald Trump blasted President Biden's handling of the border crisis, saying the country is being "destroyed" by the recent surge of illegal migrants at the border.

COMMENT:  President Trump is right.  There was no crisis at the border as he left the White House.  Trump was well on his way to secure and defended borders.  It was President Biden, with policies dictated by the extreme left, who created this new crisis.  And the Biden administration shows no interest in modifying those policies.  They are designed to increase the number of potential Democratic votes in the United States.

Some are already predicting that the border will be Biden's Waterloo.  I make no such predictions.  The wayward press will cover for the president, and Republicans may garble their message.  This is not the time for smug predictions.  It's the time for starting a good fight,.

I AM SO SHOCKED AT THIS – FROM COLLEGE FIX:    Congress is moving closer to passing a $1.9 trillion bill under the auspices of COVID relief. However, two education researchers recently found that union influence, not a lack of money for health initiatives, keeps public schools closed.  “Major teachers unions have claimed repeatedly that public schools need gobs of cash to reopen in person,” Corey DeAngelis, the director of school choice for Reason Foundation, and Christos Makridis, a professor and researcher at Arizona State University and MIT, said.  “But our new analysis suggests funding isn’t the reason teachers unions are keeping schools shut,” the pair wrote in a March 9 opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal. “In fact, our prior work has found that union influence, rather than scientific concerns about the spread of the virus, is the primary driver behind reopening decisions.”  “Many teachers unions, by contrast, have been fighting to stay at home. The difference is one of incentives,” the opinion piece said. “Public schools get their funding regardless of whether they open their doors.”  The new research from DeAngelis and Makridis found “no evidence to suggest that higher revenue or expenditures per student are associated with a higher probability of reopening schools for in-person learning.”  The Democratic Party, which depends heavily on teachers unions for campaign contributions, will ignore this.  Who cares about kids?  Kids don't vote.

WHAT IT'S COME TO – FROM COLLEGE FIX:    Students would chant to an Aztec god that accepts human sacrifice under a proposed California ethnic studies curriculum.  “The curriculum includes an official ‘ethnic studies community chant,’ in which students appeal to the Aztec gods—including the god of human sacrifice—for the power to become ‘warriors’ for ‘social justice.’ Students seek a ‘a revolutionary spirit’ through these incantations,” reports journalist Christopher Rufo, who tweeted out images of the curriculum to support his statements.  At stake? “Adoption would clear the way for the state legislature to vote on a bill making ethnic studies a high school graduation requirement for all 1.74 million high schoolers in the state,” reports RealClear Investigations.   There is also video of another proposed chant that shows high school students in Los Angeles cheering in various Spanish, Swahili and Native American phrases in advance of discussions on topics such as oppression, power, solidarity and systemic racism, RealClear reports. That video is linked within the proposed curriculum before the California Department of Education.  In it, the students clap and stomp their feet as they chant about tackling various struggles together, according to a translation by RealClear.  The tragedy is that the world isn't buying what these people are selling.  They will wind up watching that world go by.

THE WANTING OF MEGHAN – STOP LAUGHING – OVERNIGHT:  I know we all can't wait.  Why, just the thought of her in the Oval Office thrills us.   We will be uplifted, our intellect raised.  From Fox: 

Some of the claims Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made during their interview with Oprah Winfrey last week are being picked apart by the British media, even as Fleet Street continues to lean into rumors and gossip about the international couple.

The Daily Mail dedicated a lengthy piece to dispute false or misleading claims from the interview – then separately predicted the Duchess of Sussex might run for U.S. president in 2024, citing an unnamed British Labour Party official.

She’s already, allegedly, "networking" with "senior Democrats" on a presidential fundraising plan.

"The Blairite, internationalist and Democratic Party networks are buzzing with talk about Meghan's political ambitions and potential backers," the outfit quoted its source as saying.

Other critics and outlets have also dug into the claims the couple made during the interview, which aired last week.

"I don’t believe a word that she says," former "Good Morning Britain" host Piers Morgan said of Meghan Monday, a day before walking off the set of his own show. He quit hours later.

COMMENT:   I could actually see Meghan running for president.  She's that delusional.  And I can see Oprah Winfrey as her real campaign manager.   And I can imagine plenty of people voting her.  And I can envision most of the press being for her. 

The politics of the Democratic Party are already juvenile.  Why not go the whole distance?
